PROVISIONS FOR GOVERNMENT PURCHASE. New provisions for the purchase of slipc wool by the Government hava been gazetted. They provide that the price to be paid for the slipe wool will be determined as follows: —(a) From the average gross price per lb received for each and every grade of slipe wool produced by any such company and sold in London between January 1 and December 31, 1914, there shall be deducted the sum of lid per lb, representing shipping expenses, freight, and other charges, (b) To the residue in each case shall be added a sum equal to 55 per cent, thereof, (e) The said residue, plus the saijl 55 per cent., shall be the prices per lb to lie paid respectivelv for the same gradtts of slipe wool produced by such company up to June 30, 1917. The foregoing applies to wool invoiced before April 1, 1918. In respect to slipe wool invoiced; on or before April 1, 1918, payment at the following rates will be made by the Government to freezing companies to cover the cost of extra labour employed in displaying the wool for valuation; —When the slipc wool is displayed at freezing company's stores approved for the purpose, 2s 6d per bale; when the_ slipe vpool is displayed in approved shipping stores, 5s per bale.
