J.ho large hall presented a scene of considerable animation, and throughout the evening business proceeded with tho greatest briskness. The ladies of tho church and all those who had a hand m the preliminary arrangements knew their work thoroughly, and are to be congratulated on the line display they have made • and tho good valuo obtainable for investments, reinforced by tho excellent object to bo served, should ensure a substantial financial result. The Mayor of the borough (Mr C. N. Scurr) officially declared the sale open, expressing the hope that its success would eclipse the results of last year's effort, and that the handiwork of tho ladies, with which tho various stalls were loaded, would meet with a ready sale. The St. Kilda Methodist Church, added Mr Scurr, was a live institution, and was undoubtedly a source of much inspiration to the other churches in tho district.—(Applause.) _ An exceedingly varied collection of goods m the different stalls was very tastefully arranged. A vast amount of sewing work had been done, and the product of tho ladies' efforts in this direction was seen in tho large quantity of useful and tasteful articles offered for sale. The Sunday School or Santa Claus, stall was stocked with gift articles, and tho members of the congregation, along with adherents and friends, also rallied well to tho support of their church in providing saleable articles. A special feature of the bazaar is tile tasteful and attractive manner in which the annexe to tho main building has been fitted out as a refreshment room, tho elaborate decorations and masses of flowers producing a beautiful effect' Tho secretarial work was ably performed by Mr I. Wihton. who was assisted by Messrs A. Howio and E. Newell. The following is a list of the stalls and stall-holders:— Lollio stall—Mrs Walker and Y.W.B. Class; fruit ,1!-Mr W. Fleming and Mrs Stellans; plain stall—Mrs Hudson" (president of Ladies' Guild), Mrs Summcrili (vice-president of Ladies' Guild); produco stall —Messrs Hemor and Howie; refreshments—Mesdamcs Howie, Winton, and Newell; variety—Me.sdames Hitchcock and Dranc; handkerchief and d'oyly—Choir (Mrs Thonias and Miss Kernohan); buttonhole—Christian Endeavour; Aunt Sally W. Dawson. S. Guy, and J. Dove; Santa Claus stall—Sundav School; competitions—Messrs Kirk, Bezett, Shrimpton, and Cole. Prior to the opening of tho bazaar tho St. Kilda Band played outside tho hall, and it also rendered a couple of selections in good stylo during tho evening. A dialoguo was rendered by Mi- R. Hughson's partv; a oharacter song by aome Salvation Army friends from Roslyn, and an action song by Miss Cantv's party. Tho sale will be open this afternoon and evening, and also on Saturday. Fresh items and new _ competitions will" bo introduced each evening.
