A cable message from London announces u Munro-Forijuson, mother of the Australian Governor-General. Another sap in the fast-diminishing ranks of the early pioneers has been caused bv the death on Monday morning of Mrs John M'Kissock, at her son's residence at Inchclutha. The deceased lady, who -was in her eighty-ninth year, was ljorn at New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, and was married to her late husband in 1852. Mr M'Kissock was attracted to New Zealand by the news of tho discovery of gold at Gabriel's Gully, at which time he in Australia, and his' wife joined him at Tuapeka at the latter end of 1861. There were very few women on the field. After spending two years at the diggings, Mr M'Kissock acquired a team in order to wagon provisions, etc., to the goldfield, and subsequently leased a farm at Inchclutha, whore the family lived for several years, finally settling, however, near Stirling. Mr M'Kissock died 36 years ago, and of a family of seven there are four survivors—Mr John M'Kissock (Waikaia), Mr Andrew M'Kissock (Stirb'ng), Mrs J. J,. Thomas (Pleasant Point), and Mrs W. J. Neal (Mornington).
