SHEARERS' ACCOMODATION
COMPLAINT BY WORKERS. (Pm Okttid 1 j bebs AeaooiATioir.) WKLLINGTON, May 22. A deputation from the Agricultural and Pastoral Workers' Union to-day waited on the Acting Minister of Labour regarding accommodation for shearers and others at many country stations. Tlie deputation described the conditions as disgraceful. ■'J 1 . 0 Hon. W. 11. Henries replied that according to reports received improvements had been cfloctcd in the 6heds which had been subject of complaints previously, lie assured tile deputation that the Labour Department was really anxious to carry out the law as it stood. He believed the department had endeavoured to compel employers to observe the law. All the stations mentioned would bo inspected, and if possible improvements made. Proposals for an amendment of the Act would bo submitted! to Mr Massey.
