In tho Supremo Court to-day George Hart, mattress maker, was sentenced to one year's imprisonment for breaches of the Bankruptcy Act in failing to keep proper books, and failing to disclose the whole of his property, etc. MASTERTON, May 22. James Donovan was to-day fined £50 for employing a military deserter. CARTERTON, May 22. * The premises of Sun Shing, laundrvman, was entered by a burglar between Friday and Monday. Shing was away for a few days, andl on his return discovered that the plaoo had been broken into. Tho sum of £55 was stolen. The thief was evidently familiar with the premises, for he went straight to tho money, nothing else being disturbed. CHRISTCHURCH. May 22. Robert Warden, who escaped from the Paparua Prison on May 13, has been committed for trial on a charge of breaking and entering, and has been committed for sentenoe for escaping from prison.
