AMUSEMENTS.
That powerful photo drama "Enlighten Thy Daughter " continues to attract crowds twice daily to the Octagon Theatre. Tho wonderfully dramatic, manner in which tho themo of the play, tho fatal result of tho criminal negligence of a careless, sportloving mother is brought out, cannot fail (o hold attention. Tho oast is ono of superlative excellence, and the jnoral of the play drives homo a great truth to every parent. The picture will be shown at tho Octagon twiou daily till to-morrow evening. The special attraction .at the Plaza to-day will be the Metro photo-plav " Big Tremaine," featuring Harold Lockwood, May Allison, and a strong cast. Beautiful scenes make " Big Trenmino" a joy to tho eye. Most of the action takes placc on a southern plantation, and tho life of tho old "landed gentry" is well depicted. An unusually interesting contrast shows tho devotion of the old Virginia families to horses and hounds and other favourito amusements of the early days. "Big Treniaino " tells of tho love of John Tremaino for pretty Julia Cameron, a northern guest who is visiting on a nearby plantation. He believes that his affection is reciprocated _ until ho sees Julia in the arms of his brother David. Brokenhearted, he goes away, leaving- no cluo to his whereabouts. Big John is robbed of the. woman ho loved, and a large sum of money by his brother, but his mother believes him to be tho thief. Should he keep silence? The eighth chapter of "The Girl of the Game," the latest Gazette, and a scenic and comedy will complete the programme. At the_ Empire Theatre just now Julian Eltinge is appearing in a novel and attractive Paramount picture called " The Countess Charming." Julian Eltinge is himself this Countess, and his impersonation is a remarkably clever one, and provides much amusement in the scenes in which he imposes on gullible society leaders. "Fatty" Arbucklc gives weight to a most amusing comedy on tho programme.
