EMPIRE MY CELEBRATIONS
The Empire Day celebrations, in which, as in former years, the Overseas Club is taking a leading interest, promises to eclipse all previous effort. Special programme matter has been prepared, featuring items by prominent entertainers, including Mrs Johnston-Topliss (dramatic soprano), Mrs Crofton Umbers (sketch artist), and soldiers' quartet. Mr Clive Lowe and Mr Bernard Kitchen will pretwo numbers for 'cello and piano. Portions of Shakespeare's plays will be performed. during which Mesdames Hudson and Wakefield-Holmes will sing the duet "I Know a Bank," from " A Midsummer Night's Dream." The band of the 4th Otago Regiment (under Lieutenant George) will render appropriate selections, and a short address, entitled "The Spirit of the Empire," will be given by Mr W. C. MaoGregor. K.C. A gorgeous pageant will conclude the performance. All funds will go to provide cots for the Red Cross Military Hospital, which laudable object should ensure a crowded house. The box plan is now on tiew at the Bristol.
