Tho accident happened about 5.30 a.m., and when discovered a few minutes afterwards the unfortunate lady was in an unconscious condition. She nassed awav at about 12.30 without regaining consciousness. Deceased had been in ill-health, and., it is thought, she mistook the window for the door of her room. Tho late Mrs Avling was an old resident of Invercargill. but had been a frequent visitor to Queenstown during tho hist few years. A drowning fatality occurred near Tuatapore on Monday, 13th inst., whereby a child named Athol Smith lost his life. The little chap, who was nearly two years of ago, had been playing with other children near Boundary Creek. Ho was lost sight of for a short while, and a search by Hamilton's sawmill employees resulted in his body being found in tho creek, which nt that place is about 2ft deep. At tho inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned.
