UNITED WAR INTERCESSION
In connection wiUi tho war intercessory services, which are being held in First Cnuroh this week, au all day of prayer waa arranged for yesterday. Klovon meeting wero held, each lasting an hour. Every one of tho services wad well attended, but moro particularly the three in the evening. Tho arrangement.-, wero admirably carried out, and the Rev. George lleiglnvay, secretary of tho United Christian Council (under whose auspices the services were held), is to bo congratulated on the success which attended Ins ettorts. Tho lirst service commenced at 10 a.m the loader being tho Hon. G. M. Thomson' Air <J. C. l'.aston was the organist at tho opening service, and Mr J. M. Lomas ofliciated at the two succeeding services, which were led by Mr W. L. Logic and Mr H. H. Driver. J.ho succocdiiig appointments were: ~-l to 2, Mr S. F. Benton lcador, Mr 11. B. Austin organist; 2 to 3, Mrs \V. 11. Don and Mr D. Cooke; 3 to 4, Rev. G. H. Jupp and Miss May Young; 4 to 5, Mr A S Adams and Mrs 11. C. Campbell; 5 to"6' tY' n •£' xc^on and Miss M'Laren; 0 to 7, Roy. R. Fairinaid and Mr R. Nimmo; 7 to 8, Mr H. K. Wilkinson and Mrs Allen; 8 to 9, Hev. A. -Cameron and Mr J. Timson. At the sen-ice led by the Rev. A. Cameron tho First Church Choir led the singing. Mr Cameron's subject of disoourso w;ts . Victory and Abiding Peace: Tho Extension of the Kingdom of God." In tho oourso of his very brief remarks ho urged liis hearers when praying for victory over their enemies in the flesh also to pray for victory over their spiritual enemies. Tho services, which were characterised by deep earnestness and devotion, will bo continued this evening at 7.30, when the Rev. A. H. AVallaco will lead.
