SOLDIERS SENTENCED
PENALTTES FOR DESERTION.
In Trentham Camp orders it is announced that tho following sentences by District Courts-martial have been confirmed: —
Private R. R. Newport, Trentham Details (G Company, Twenty-fifth Reinforcements), found guilty of deserting his Majesty's sorvice. Sentenced to 112 days' detention. Private M. J. Faul, Trentham Details (E Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements), found guilty of (1) deserting his Majesty's service; and (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries. Sentenced to 84 days' detention, and to stoppages of pay for deficiencies in kit amounting to £5 13s 4d. Private J. R. Hartland, Trentham Details (A 'Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements), found guilty of, when on active service, deserting his Majesty's ' service. Sentenced to 84 days' detention. Private S. A. Gillard, Trentham Details (A Company, Thirtieth Keinforcements), found guilty of deserting his Majesty's service. Sentenced to 42 days' detention. Private W. Stormont, Trentham Details (A Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements), found guilty of, when on active servico 1 , deserting his Majesty's service. Sentenced to. 56 days' detention. Private G. F. Daly, Trentham Details (A Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements), found guilty- of, when on active service, deserting his Majesty's service. Sentenced to 84 days' detention. Privato W. M. Phillips, Trentham Details (A Company, 30th , Reinforcements), desertins; his Majesty's service; 84 days' detention. Private A. Sinton, Trentham Details (D Company, 30th Reinforcements), deserting ':V service; 112 days' detention.
Private F. BarMtt, Trentham Details (A Company, 30th Reinforcements), deserting hia Majesty's service, drunkenness on returning to cami); 96 days' detention. Private S. Black, Trentham Details (A Company, 30th Reinforcements), deserting his Majesty's service; 56 days' detention.
Finding of a District Court-martial, held at Fratherrton Military Camp: Private William Artnnr Fraser, Feathereton Details, deserting his Majesty's service, losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries; imprisonment with hard labour for sis months, and to be placed under stoppages of pay until he had made good the sum of £3 2s Qd for kit deficiencies.
Private E. E. Buckley, Trentham Details (A Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements); found guilty of deserting his Maiestyls service. Sentenced to 56 days' detention, Private W, S. Eaton, Trontham Details (D. Company, Thirtieth Reinforcements); found guilty of (1) deserting his Majesty's sorvicn, and (2) when in confinement escaping. Sentenced to 140 days' detention.
Two men, for being avsent without leave, hape also been sentenced to 42 days' detention.
