POLICE APPOINTMENTS
TTie Commissioner of Police has announced a number of poEco transfers and promotions. The following have been promoted to sergeants and will be transferred to Wellington:--Constables E. Woodley, of Kihikibi; J. J. O'Grady, of Gcraldine; G. B. Edwards, of Kurow; H. Mai-tin, of Kaitangata; D. A. Mac Lean, of Russell. Constable F. Hammond, of Kingsland, has been given tho rank of sergeant and transferred) to Auckland. Sergeant J. Fitepatriok, of Wellington, goes to Palmorston North, and Sergeant C. J. King, also of Wellington, will bo transferred to Christchurch. Sergeant J. A. Cniickehank, of Mount Oook, will go to Wellington South.
