CRICKET

STANDARD CRICKET CLUB.

The annual meeting of tho Standard Cricket Club was held on Saturday,' the president (Mr C. S. Span]) presiding. The annual report congratulated the club on its sound financial position. The credit balance of £13 Os 5d was a record for tho club. Tho dub's position in tho League competition was not up to expectation the club being placed third in cup points, with tho following result: Matches played 10, won 6, lost 4, cup points 12. The club was well represented in the animal association and league matches by Messrs O. Ingram (chosen captain) against tho Seniors, and by R. Pinder, A Nelson, and A. Lebherz against the Junkis. The committee recommended that tho subscription for playing members bo reduced from 7s 6dl to 5s for the coming season. The committee had with great regret to record the loss the club had sustained through tho death of David Joseph Ringrcso (killed in action), who endeared himself to all by his manly qualities, and for whom a promising future was predicted in the cricket world as a wicket-keeper.

The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, congratulated the club upon tho strong financial position it now occupied, mainly owing to the judicious and careful way in which the committee had managed affairs. Tho playing of tho members generally was good. The membership naturally had been affected by war conditions. The question of reducing the subscription for playing members was, he thought, a movement in the right direction, in view of the many calls that were being made upon one and all at the present time. Mr Paine seconded the motion.

It was decided to send a letter of condolence to the relatives of the late Private Ringrose. The officers for tho ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patrons —Messrs P. R. Sargood, J. F. Ewen, D. A. Ewen, J. P. M'Gowan; president, Mr C. S. SpauL; vice-presidents—Messrs W. Tyrie, 0. Finlaysoh, H. E. Skinner; hon. secretary and treasurer, R. Pinder; captain, A. Paine; deputy-captain, C Ingram; committee—F. Holleyman, A. Lebhora, A. Fox, and L. Quest; selectors, A. Jellv and A. Lebherz; auditors, J. Dixon and W. Ahlbrandt: delegates to Otago Cricket League R, Pindor and C. Ingram.
