RAILWAY WORKSHOPS LIBRARY.

The annual meeting of the subscribers of the , Hillside Railway Workshops Library was held on Wednesday evening, when the president (Mr J. Carson) ocoupied the chair. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the Chairman said they had over 9000 books. He was eorry to hear that their valuable collection i 1 ; 0 * 1 books was not availed of as it should be, especially by the apprentice*. J. no finances were in a good condition air ri. The revenue was £89 10s, as against £96 17s 6d for the previous year. The credit balance in the bank is £3 3s 10d. excluding wa certificates amounting to £8. ' w ho had done good work lor the institution for many years as auditor and trustee, was transferred to Grevmouth, and the committee wishes to place upon record its rhanks to him for past «»r----vices. Mr G. A. Deare, who had href a vice-president for a very short time, was transferred to the head office. The stock of books and magazines has been well kept up. mf™™ -;v.
