Druukumicss. —'lhornas Jemuns was fined I 10s, m delault 4o hours' iinpr .sonment. Herbert William Harris, ohaigod with, drunkenness and with procuring liquor during tho ourrenoy of a prohibition order, was lined 2Js, ill default 48 hours' imprisonment, with respect to each charge. Joseph Williams, who was obargod: (1) With drunkenness, (2) using obscene language, and (6) assaulting Constable Broekbank while in the execution of his duty, was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, on the first charge, and 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, on each of tho other two charges. Damago to Property.—On a chargo of damaging a plato glass window, the property "of the National Register Company, Thomas Stack was remanded till the following day. By-law Oases.—John Sanders, for driving a motor cycle at a speed greater than that permitted by tho by-laws, was fined 10s, With costs (15s). Wallace Spencer Riddell, for driving a motor car on the wrong side of tho street, was fined ss, with costs (7s) v Raleigh Ginsberg, for driving an unlighted motor car in the streets after dark, was fined 30s, with costs (7s). For a similar offence, James Paterson was fined 20s, with costs (7s). Permitting Horses to Wander.—For this offence John M'Bwen and John Flanaghan were fined 5s and 7s ..6d respectively, with costs (7s), in each instance. Casting Offensivo Matter.—On this charge John Burton was fined 20s, with costs (7s). 111-treating Horsrs. —Win. Reed, John Frasex, and J. M. Brown, for whom Mr B. S: Irwin appeared, pleaded "Guilty" to illtreating two horses by working them while they were suffering from sore shoulders.— Mr Irwin said that tho defendant Brown was a coal merchant, and the other defendants were employed by him in the capacity of drivers. Brown had some 14 or 15 horses on the road daily. The police stopped the teams on the roads and discovered tho Rores referred to, which were not of a serious nature.—Sub-inspector Mathieson said counsel's statement was a fair ono. —Each was fined 10s, with costs (7s). Maintenance —For a breach of a maintenance order with respect to his wife, Thos. Grico was sentenced to seven days' impr'sonment, defendant to be released on payment of the arrears. John Hussey was charged with failing to provide for his wife and child. —Tho caso was remanded for.one week, conditional upon defendant paying £1 Forthwith towards complainant's maintenance.
