(Pbh Unitsd Pbess Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH', July 2+. An inquest was heid on iho body of Roy Lod'er, aged 18 years, who accidentally shot himself on Sunday in Hurford road. JEvident:e was given by a companion, aged 17 years, who instructed the deceased how to use the gun. It appeared that the deceased and his companion separated, and on returning tho deceased got through a wire fence, apparently pulling the gun through, 'lhe hammer str-uck a post, discharging tho contents of a cartridgo into the deceased's heairt, death being almost instantaneous. The coroner (Mr Grooke), in recording his verdict, suggested that boys should receive ructions in school as to handling firearms, and also in regard to boating and swimming, especially floating, as well as being impressed with the danger of electric wires, thus preventing' many regrettable accidents.

■ WELLINGTON, July 24. At the inquest on the body of Private Thomas William Hill, whoso body was found in the bush near Trentham Camp, a verdict was returned that, on or about February 8, he met his death by hanging himself while suffering from mental depression. The evidence showed that the deceased had been in ill-health for several days, and that on February . 8 he failed) to attend the sick parade. A man named Thomas Sally, who had been a resident of Wetherstones for the past 30 or 40 years, was found dead in his hut on Monday night by the Rev. Father Lynch, who was making a call on him. Ihe deceased, who was 73 years of age, was a miner in tho early day§, and later he was an employee at Simpson and Hart's brewery, but for the past two years he lived a tired life. In his younger days he was known as "Melbourne Tommy." An inquest was held this afternoon before Mr Acheson, and a verdict of death from natural causes was returned.
