SKETCHES OF ANZAC
The Art Gallery Hall, "where Sapper Moore-Jones's sketches of Anzac are on view, is the venue both afternoon and evening of large numbers of the publ.c, who, while appreciating the deftness with which the hand of the wjater-colourist transfers to the canvas a comprehensive idea of the conformation of rugged, valley-scarred Gallipoli, have the additional grat fication of augmenting the funds of tho New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association. Limned with topographical aecuracv and a wealth of detail rendered more surprising when one takes into consideration tho manifol-l d " ! - oulties under which they were portrayed, tho 80 paintings constitute a faithful record of a glorious yet ill-starred enterprise and a lasting memorial and eloquent tribute to tho Spartan valour of tho bravo Australasians whose blood made sacred the slopes of Anzac. Sapper Moore-Jones, with the assistance of numbers of. his sketches, recounts the events ,attending the landing at Anzac—and afterwards—in a racy address punctuated by genuine examples of soldierly wit. Tho exhibition will bo open to-day. but tomorrow the hall will bo otherwise engaged.
