SOLDIERS' SPECIAL RELIEF
PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO OFFICERS. (Pbb United Pekss Association.) WELLINGTON, January 30. Doubt has been expressed as to whether tho soldiers' special relief provisions up to £2 per week in respect to the payment of rent, life insurance, etc., apply to officers. Inquiry made in official quarters to-day elicited the announcement that tho provisions apply equally to officers as to non-commissioned officers and men. Such relief, however, will only be granted where it is -shown ■to be necessary. Forms of application are now being prepared for members of tho forces, who may apply at any tune. So far as the men at'present serving abroad are concerned, their next-of-kin m New Zealand may make application on their- behalf.
