The Government proposes to extend tiio life of Parliament by six months, but the • Commons and the Lords are likely to grant only three months, conditional upon a new register being immediately prepared. LONDON, August 4 The Manchester Guardian, a well-in-formed paper, remarks: " Many good. and. cautious judges believe that a reconstruction is very near. Mr Asquith's prestige has suffered by the Irish affair, andi it has placed him in a difficult position. Mr Lloyd George is his only possible successor. Sir E. Carson would get the War Office, Mr Churchill re-entering the Cabinet.
