LAND SETTLEMENT

RESULT O.F BALLOTS.

The ordinary meeting of the Otago Land Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs D. M. Caldcr (Deputy Commissioner of Crown Lands, in the'chair).. G. Livingstone, T. A. Munro, J. Smith, and C. J. lnder. The board was occupied from 10 o'clock in the monrng till 3 in the afternoon examining applicants for inclusion in the ballot for the Pukctoi runs. This left little opportunity for other business, but two pastoral run leases w'ere put up to auction, and several other sections were disposed of. Run' 515, Teviot district, Tuapeka County, of 4550 acres, was put up to auction, but was -assed in, as no offers, were received. Section 7, block 1,, in the Kaitangata district, was sold at the upset rental of £2 10s to William MTntosh, of Waronui, Milton. The various ballots for sections resulted as follow: — ' Section,29, block XIV, Rimu, 176 acres. Four applicants. —Drawn by Goorgo Gray, Papatowai. Section 15, block VTII, Warepa, 52 acres. No applicants. Section 7, block Vni, Woodland district, 225 acres. Two applicants^—Drawn by Jas. Fraser, Momington. PUKETOI RUNS. Small grazing run 308 M, 3985 acres. Twmty-nine applicants.—Drawn by John M'Lcan, Roslyn. Pastoral run 261Q, 2353 acres. Eighteen approved applicants.—Drawn by Mrs Isabella S. M'Laren, Patearoa. Pastoral run 261R, 3006 acres.
