DESIRE TO LEAVE NEW ZEALAND
SEVERAL MEN STOPPED. (Peb • Unjthd Press Association.) 1 WELLINGTON, November 19. Tho Ulimaroa's departure drew a crowd of interested watchers to the wharf to-day, the male passengers running the gauntlet of some good-humoured banter. Several men who were unable to produce satisfactory passports were stopped at the gangway by the police, and were not allowed on board. Others arrived at the barrier near the ship -with their baggage, but on seeing the_ earlier failures grew fainthearted, and decided not to risk a similar refusal. A few attempted to get away by seeking jobs on the ship, but these were also doomed to disappointment.
