Art ran a good race, and just beat Vascular in a strong finish for second money. Art appeared to be slightly interfered with when Hikahakeke fell. Charlotte was elected j as a strong, order for the Cresay Welter, and led to the distance, where Encore came away, to win by three lengths, short heads separating Seadown, Gold Soult, Charlotte, and Tree Lucerne. Robert Bell's rider lost his stirrup. Halina soon became prominent in the Seymour Handicap, and stalled off Findhorn, who had to concede her a threelength 6tart from the home turn. Sir Tarka ran best of the others, as he was left with Down and Kew, and then ran close behind the fourth horse. Three led the Members' field past the distance, where Bee looked a winner, when she was bumped by Three. In a great finish Chakwana drew up and won by over a head, with but a little to spare between Bee and Three. Kaminohe and Daytime were close up. Bertrada lost position early, and was tailed off! at the turn. Great interest was taken in the Gold Cup. Opinion was divided between Warstep and Desert Gold. Warstep shot out at the rise of the barrier, and at the end of a quarter-mile Desert Gold led by six lengths from Ernperador. Warstep moved up, but was blocked in an attempt to come through on the rails three furlongs and a-half from home. In tho run home First Glance moved into second place, but Desert Gold kept clear, and finally won by two lengths from Warstep, who wore down First Glance, and beat her by half a length. Flying Start was half-a-dozen lengths away. The winner ran the first six furlongs in lmin 14 l-ssec. This time closely approaches an Australasian record. Warstep with ordinary luck must have won, as at tho first quarter she was last, and 10 or 12 lengths away, from the winner. This, with the block nearer home, made it a great performance to get so close at the finish. First Glance ran a fine race. Tete-a-tete finished fast in the Electric Plate, and got up in time to head off Veronal and .Tatterley. Mountain Dream bolted once round from a false start in the Fendalton Handicap, in which Battle Eve and Immer opened up a big gallop. Eligible, afterward going away in impressive style, raced past the post and won. FORBURY PARK MEETING.
