MINING.
The master of the Red Jacks dredge reports that he has been compelled to cease work through floods washing the road away. 11 o expects to resume dredging this morning. Work at the Waiotahi mine, Thames, last week was entirely confined to the cleaning up of the old battery for the purpose of recovering any gold lost during the many years of crushing. The Magazine tunnel in the Kuranui mine, Thames, has been advanced lift. The country was still firm, but had greatly improved, and was carrying nice mineral. A break was passed through, and was 6in wide. The following' telegram hae been eent to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company:—" No. 11 Level, Dreadnought East: Next 98ft, 375. Empire South, Section West: 89ft, 365. At 352 ft in Bath north crosscut have cut lode 3ft wide; 91s; course 60 degrees vertical." DREDGING RETURNS. Oz. dwt. gr.
