T.ho fino series of pictures dealing with tlio Panama Oanal received the applause which their excellence merited. PRINCESS THEATER The Drennan-Fuller management has provided an excellent entertainment tor patrons this week, arid it is not often that such a strong list of attractions ie contained in one programme. One of the most thrilling turns seen on the local vaude\ r illo stage for a long time is that provided "by the Four Casting Lamys, a troupe of aerial gymnasts, who perform some really marvellous feats, including the turning of double somersaults i while flying through, tho air from one end of the etag-o to tho other. During the progress of tho turn the audience is held breathless by the daring nature of tho feats successfully attempted. The gymnasts wero accorded a great ovation. The other items on the programme are of a popular nature. The present company will appear nightly during this week

QUEEN'S THEATRE. Patrons of picture exhibitions have learned to regard tho Queen's Theatre a≤ a place of entertainmeiit, at wihich they, are well catered for, and at which they can safely rcJy upon seeing good pictures. The present programme is meeting with as much favour as its predecessors, which is saying a great deal, in view of tho largo numbers that have been present evereince the Queen's Theatre was opened as a picture palace. The new scries of pictures is a good one, and contains plenty of variey, and much that is interesting, and the final opportunity of seeing it will bo afforded bo-day.

Tho popular winter pastime of roller ekating attracted its full quota of devotees again yesterday, the floor being crowded at each siasion. The concerts given periodically by thoDunedin Liedertafel need no reeomendation to the public. The Liodertaiel has earned an excellent reputation for male part-singing. The initial concert of the twenty-eighth season will be given in the Burns Hall this evening, when an attractive, programme of part songs will bo submitted by the society. Solos will 'be rendered by Mrs Wilson, Messrs Alexander. Gibson, and Bauehop; a duet by Meeera M'Kinlay and Gemmell; dramatic recital by Mr W. W. Crawford, and Mr Jesse Tirnson will conduct, while Mr Andrew Martin will officiate as accompanist. GAELIC SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the society, hold at the Art Gallery Hall last evening, wae well attended, notwithstanding tho untavour-α-be weather, liie chief (Mr i>ugald M'Pherson) presided, supported by dufetains Roderick 'Mackenzie and Kenneth Cameron. In opening the moating the chief extended a hittorty Highland welcome k> all, and stated in concluding that tho annual gathering of the society would take place on September 18. which was the date of the speaker's birthday. The senior bard (Mr Neil Maefadyen)', with Mrs Macfadyen, wore present National musio wae supplied by Pipe-major John M'Kochnio, Messrs John M'Lean, Angus M-'Miilan, and Dan Mathcson,. jun.
