CLOSE OF WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS. Prea» Aatoeiation— By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 6. The Wimbledon championship meeting was brought to a close to-day. The challenge rounds resulted: — THE DOUBLES. N. E. Brookes (Victoria) and A. F. Wilding (New Zealand) defeated H. RoperBarrett and C. P. Dixon (England), 6—l, 6—l, 5—7, B—6. Last year the Men's Doubles were won by Roper-Barrett and C. P. Dixon, who beat F." W» Rahe and H. Kleinschroth, 6__2, 6—4, 4—6, 6—2. MIXED DOUBLES. J. C. Parke and Mrs Larcombe beat Wilding and Mile. Broquedis, 4—6, 6—4, 6—2. Parke and Mrs Larcombe were the winners in 1912, but were defeated last year by Hope-Crisp and Mrs Tuckey. (Received July 7, at 9.10 p.m.) Wilding had the lead to the second set, 4—2 and 5—4, but Mile. Broquedis failed badiy, though she played some wonderful shots. LADIES' DOUBLES. Miss Morton (England) and Miss Ryan (Ireland)" beat Mrs Larcombe and Mrs Hannan, 6—l, 6—3. A TRIUMPH FOR YOUTH. LONDON, July 6. The day was rainy. The first two sets were completed in 22 minutes. RoperBarrett was sound throughout, playing x to the centre line in the hope of scoring oif Wilding's left or Brookes's right. He poached continually in the third set, showing remarkable activity, until Dixon, who had been very patchy, brilliantly assisted to win the set. The last set was called 3 all, 4 all, 5 all, 6 all. The match was a triumph for youth and physical force rather than science. Wilding was in superlative fofm, and probably did not miss more than five or sis chances of scoring throughout. ALL-ENGLAND PLATE. LONDON, July 6.
In the All-England Plate, open to players defeated in *he first and second rounds of the championship, Dixon (England) defeated Harding, 6—l, 6—2.
