On Degree Day at Leeds University the students assembled in the gallery and pelted fashionable ladies' hats and dangled spring onions in their faces. Distinguished visitors were " held up," and the cnancellor and mace-bearer were enveloped in a blanket. The professors were , rescued amid wild disorder.
