PORTOBELLO AND MOTOR TRAFFIC.
YESTERDAY'S POLL. THE PROPOSAL CARRIED. A plebiscite of the ratepayers of the Portobello Road Board was held yesterday on the question of whether or not the whole of the roads in the Portobello Road District should be thrown open for motor traffic. The -voting resulted as follows:— For Against the the proposal, proposal. Vanxhall 190 29 North-East Harbour 6 18 Broad Bay 22 17 Portobello ... 40 36 Hooper's Inlet 5 23 Totals ! 263 ■ 123 The proposal was therefore carried oy a majority of 140 votes.
