SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.

Anniversary services in connection with the Kew Methodist Sunday School wero held on Sunday, and last night the children were gathered in the Caveraham Hall for the purpose of entertaining parents and friends with musical selections and recitations. There was a large attendance, notwithstanding the bad weather conditions. The gathering was presided over by Mr P. Nixon, superintendent of tho Sunday 6ohooL

The annual report, read by Miss Davidson, stated that Mr Nixon, the superintendent, had had a strenuous time in maintaining the efficiency of the teaching staff, Miss Mew had been laid aside for a time by ill health; Mr Milburn, who had been superintendent for mtny years, had been lost to them, and ono valuable teacher had left tho district; but volunteers had come forward to fill the vacancies. The number of scholars on the roll was 143, including Bible classes, with an average attendance of 95, The school library had been added to. Tho League of Worshipping Children had a membcrsip of 26, with on average attendance of 19. The resignation of Miss Porter as secretary of the Cradle Roll had been accepted with regret, and Mies Turner had been appointed to tho vacancy. Tho teachers had deemed it advisable to withdraw from tho Otago Sunday School Union, as they had connection with the Methodist Sunday School Conference. Quite a number of senior scholars had joined tho church. During the year, by tho aid of subscriptions and entertainments, a piano had been purchased, and had proved a great acquisition to the 6ehuroh as a whole. Thanks wero greatly duo to those who had assisted in the purchase.

Mr Nixon read the treasurer's report, which showed a credit balance of £8 7s 7d, and referred to the expenditure on mission work.

The R<*. C Dallaston gavo a brief address on tho value of Sunday school work. 'The children, under the direction of Mr W. Carpenter (in the absence of Mr J. Davidson, through illness), presented a very interesting and attmctivo programme, whioh included songs, recitations, ond choruses. Some of tho little ones specially delighted the audience by their well rendered contributions. Tho piano accompnnimonts were played by the Misses White. Mew, and Turner. At tho close of the entertainment about 70 prizes wero distributed amongst the scholars.
