THE SHARE MARKET.

DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. The market on tho Dunedin Stock Exchange opened quiotly last Monday, but things brightened at the middlo of tho week, and during tho last day or two a fairly large amount of business has been transacted on and off 'Change. Priccs of all classes of stocks have for tho most part continued firm, but tho northern quartzmining lines havo fluctuated somowhat. Tbo dredging division of the market has remained very quiot. Only four or five lines havo been quoted, aind no business haa been t recorded or reported. Electrics have had' sellers at 4s 3d, Rise and Shines at £1 9s, and Rising Suns at £1 ss, without buyers. Island Blocks have been placed on tho market at from t& 6d to 2s 6d, but buyers havo not been quoted abovo Is 3d. Sailor's Bends have had occasional sellers at 3s 3d, and M&nuherikias at 2b 6d, with a buyer of tiho latter yesterday at Is 3d. In the mining section prices of most lines havo been well maintained. Rosa Goldfields have eased as a result of the week's operations. This lino openod on Monday with buyers at 16s, and sellers at 16s 6d. Sales were reported and recorded at 16e Id and 16s 3d (Tuesday),-15s lOd (Thursday), and 14s 6d and Iss 6d yesterday, tho market closing at 14s' (buyer), and 14s 9d (seller). Talisman Consolidateds have been in demand up to £2 5s 6d, but thero has always been a substantial margin between buyers and sellew, and no business has been recorded. Waihis are easier than at the beginning of the week. Thero woro buyers at £2 15s, and sellers it £2 16s, on Monday, when business was transacted at £2 15s and £2 13s. On the following day prices reached their highest point during the week at £2 16s 6d and £2 17s, buyer and seller respectively, a sale being reported at £2 ! 18s. Since then the market has oased considerably. Sales were effected yesterdayat £2 14s, £2 13s 9d, and £2 13e 6d; closing quotatione being buyer £2 13s, and seller £2 13s 9d. A large turnover of Waihi Grand Junctions has been made during the past few days. The market opened on Monday at £1 2s 9d buyer, and £1 2s lid seller. Prices advanced steadily until Thursday, when there wero buyers at £1 4s 6d, and sellers at £1 4s Bd. . Tho market was easier yesterday 'at £1 ' 4s, and £1 4s 6d, buyer and seller respectively. Sales wero effected on Tuesday at £1 3s Id. (three parcels) and £1 3s 4d, on Wednesday at £1 4s 3d (two parceled on Thursday and yesterday at £1 4s 6d (throe parcels). .Business was reported at £1 & 3d (two parcels), £1 3s 4£d, (Tuesday), £1' 4s 3d, £1 4s 9d, £1 ss, £1 5s 2d, (Thursday) and at £1 4s 9d (yesterday). Now Sylvias havo had sellers at from Is 3d to la Id, with buyers up to 16. Saxons firmed from 7d to Ud yesterday, when business was reported at Is.

In the investment 6tock section National Banks havo been offered on most days at £5 Bs, with buyers up to £5 7s 6d. A salo was reported on .Thursday at the latter price. There have been buyers of National Insurances up to £2 Bs, and Standard Insurances up to £1 12s, but sellers of theso lines have remained un-, quoted throughout the. week. Prices of Union Steams (ord.) have firmed to tho extent of 16 since Monday. Thero were buyers yesterday at £l 5s 6d, with sellers asking £l 6s. Two sales Were reported on Thursday at' tho' latter price. Sales of the preferential i6suo have been effected at £1 and 19s 9d (two parcels), tho market closing slightly easier yesterday, with buyers at 19s 6d, and sellers at 19s 9d. New Zealand Shippings have had sellers at £19 10a: (Tuesday), and £18 15a (Hhmsday), with a buyer on Monday at £17. Business was reported yesterday at £17 IDs, with a further buyer on 'Chango at £17 9s. but no seller. Inquiries have been made throughout the week for Westport Coals at £1 10s 9d, with sellers at £1 11a and £1 lis 3d. Sales were effected at £1 lis and £1 10s 9d. Perpetual Trustees have had sellers at £1 2s 3d and £1 2s 6d, without buyers. Milborn Limes tare been placed on the market at £1 lis 6d, New Zealand Drug 9 at £2 7s 6d, and Kaiapoi Woollens at £5 3s 6d, but no buying offers have been recorded for these lines. Mosgiel Woollens havo been disposed of at £3 12s, with further buyers offering the 6amo price, but the market has lacked sellers.
