Tho gold is of a slightly coarser nature tihan has been won for some time. Buried timber was plentiful during the week, und this, together with the breaking of tho' ladder drum, was responsible for some last time. Operations will bo carricd on for tile next fow weeks at the north end of tho cut. Tho dredgo is running very well. At tho Sajion mine tho No. 7 level is in 323 ft,' and still penetrating the hard bar. Several small veins arc now creasing the face, which makes tho ground very difficult to break, and 'retards anything like speedy progress being inado. Tho manager of tho Occidental Consolidated mino reports that most of tho work during _ tho past week was in oonnection with sinking the shaft _ Tho country is good for progress. A little stripping has been dono in tho stopca, but no chango has taken place, Tho country is favourable, and tho little quartz broken shows colours of gold. '
