OUTBREAK ON THE IMPERATOR. DEATH OF SECOND OFFICER. Pr««i Awociition—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, August 29. - The English newspapers contain stirring details of the fire on the Imperator. The second officer (Mr Gobrecht) was standing on the. bridge looking through the glass that covers the fire alarm, which contains 33 tubes connected with various parts of the ship. He observed smoke coming from one tube, and touched a button, automatically directing jete of steam into the burning rooms. He equipped himself and others with Smoke helmets, but they were overcome with hunes and wedged within the bunker door, which closed automatically. The fire brigades reached Gobrecht, and made desperate efforts. to extricate him, bnt were forced to abandon their task.
