The Hon, James Allen (Minister of Finance) had sufficiently recovered from tho effects of vaeoination to roappear in the House of Representatives yesterday. Ho had been incapacitated since Monday. It is expected that the Financial Statement will now make' its appearance on Friday. Sir Joseph Ward will leave' Sydney for Auckland by the Niagara on Monday. He will reach Auckland on Friday, and will leave for Wellington on tho following Sunday evening, reaching Wellington on Monday, August 4. 'Wo understand that strong pressure is being brought to bear on tho Cromwell Development Party to get it to go on and" complete its arrangements in connection with the irrigation of Cromwell Flat. So far the party has proved adamant, but it is believed that if certain necessary avenues were opened up it might yet bo prevailed upon to go forward with tho scheme, as it is in possession of all the data and necessary information to judge of what rights and faotore are essential to establishing this industrial enterprise upon a successful basis,
