LAND AGENTS & AUCTIONEERS

DISCORD AT ANNUAL MEETING.

(Pua United Pbess Association.)

AUCKLAND, July 25. At the annual meeting of tho Land Agents and Auctioneers' Association Mr Ewington (an 'estate agent) remarked on the number of auctioneers on the membership list. He said he had been told that the auctioneers intended to swamp tho land agents in the election of a committee. This was warmly resented by a number of auctioneers, who gave an emphatic denial to the insinuation, and declined to 6tand for election unless the remark was withdrawn.

Mr Ewington refused to withdraw, but accepted the denial made by individual members, saying that his statement was made on good authority. The ballot proceeded without the names of the protesting auctioneers.
