PROBABLE CHANGE. AUCKLAND LIKELY TO BE DROPPED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, Jdy 24. ' Tho Herald states that tho Peninsular and Oriental Steam Ship Company is dropping the Auckland 6€ffvico on the recommendation of Mr Wesche, the company's superintendent in Australia. Sir Wesche, in the course of an interview, said : " It is not possible to state whether the service will be discontinued this coming season, which will commence in November. We are awaiting advioo from London by letter, when we.expect to get full particulars of the proposed change. I received a cablegram some time ago to the effect that such a change was in contemplation, and the contents of it were of such a nature as to causc me to withdraw our announcements from the papers; but I am awaiting fuller details before proceeding further with the matter. I think it highly possible that vessels mil not proceed "to Auckland nest season; as a matter of fact, I suggested they should not.' 1
