Mr Leslie H. Reynolds, C.E., arrived in Dunedin from Wellington, last night, and will be hero for a fortnight. He 13 staying with his mother, Mrs W. H, Reynolds, Lees street. At the meeting of the City Council held last ovening Miss Marguerita Ramsay was selected from the three names submitted to the council by the Library Committee from over 40 applicants for the position of junior assists of tho Public Lihrary, at a salary of £40 per annum. Another very early settlor of Oamaru lias passed away in the person of Mr John Henderson, who died yestorday morning at the ago of 82 yeara. Mr Henderson arrived at Port Chalmors by tho ship Robert I-lendorson in 1860 and went to tho Oamaru district shortly afterwards. In 1867 he bought a farm at Awamoka, whero ho continued to live till his death. Mr J. Farrell, touring manager for file " Puss in Boots" Pantomime Company, arrived in Dunedin yesterday afternon. 110 will procced to Invercargill this morning, and will roturn to Dunedin to-morrow night to make arrangements for tho opening of tho season here.
