HOCKEY. (Pib United Pttsss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. July 21. Tlie Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association met to-night. The sub-committee appointed to consider the proposed visit of an English/ representative team submitted' a comprehensive report. It estimated the cost of the tour at £544. The committee requested that affiliHated associations should guarantee £780 pro. rata, and suggested that 14 matches should be played, including two in each centre. The report was adopted. The Auckland Association has already offered a minimum guarantee of £100. GOLF. Mr G. H. G. Smith, secretary of the Otago Golf Club, has received a cablegram from the secretary of the Australian Golf Club, Sydney, stating that the date of the Australian championships, to be decided this year in Sydney, has been fixed for September 5 ajid the fortnight following.
