The death occurred at Bluff yesterday, afternoon (a Press Association message states) of Mr Wajter Henderson, sen... at the age of 91 years. Mr Henderson was an old resident 'of Southland. -.;;.

Mr John Cagney, an old resident of ; the Oamaru district, has just passed awav ,at the age of 74 years. Mr Cagney was born in Ireland, and came to Otago nearly Jijjjf a century ago, setth'ng at Oamaru. He waa for yeare a member of the Borough Council, and generally took an active part in public affaire. Tho death is announced (a Press Association message from Invercargill states) of Mr David llocho a former Mayor. He arrived from Australia in 1858, and was at tho Gabriel's Gully and Nokomai ruslies. Ho started business at In-vercargill 40 years agp, and took a prominent part in public affairs, serving on many local bodies. '" A pleasing ceremony took place on Friday at Manaroo Farm, North Taieri, the residence of Mr and Mrs P. Huggins, tho occasion being the celebration of their goldfen wedding. Tho Rev. J. M'Donald was itho officiating minister. The aged bride and bridegroom were_ surrounded by their ,11 children and various grandchildren. TJio celebrations -were continued in the evening, when at least 80 couples took part. Dancing, etc., was kept up till the small hourf'of the morning to excellent musio rendered by the Hugging (their grandsons) orchestra. The whole function was a most' enjoyable one. ■"■;''
