SURVEYORS' EXAMINATIONS

Tho names of ttio wiio passed in the recent examination?, conducted at Wellington were announced to-day by the board, wliioh' consists ot Mr James Mackenzie (Surveyor-general, chairman), Mr Thomas Humpliricb (president of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors) Mr K H. Wilmot (chief surveyor, Duncdin), Mr H. Sladden (licensed surveyor, Wellington), Mr J. W. Harrison (licensed surveyor, Auckland), and Mr C. 15. Adams (secretary)..
Seventeen candidates .sat for tho examinations, and ot eight-who• sat for the first time two passed—namely, Messrs F. W.' Wnteon and G. Pirrit,, both of the- Lands and Survey Department. Auckland. Of nine candidates who eat to complete their examinations three succeeded in parsing. These were: Messrs G. S. Gould, Dunedin j J. E. Anderson, Public Works Department, Te Puke; and F. W. Waters, Lands and Survey Department, Nelson. Although no definite provision is made for dividing the surveyors' examination into two sections, the candidates "who fail at their first examination to pass in some of the subjects are allowed to come up tor examination in these subjects at the next succeeding- examination, If necessary a second supplementary examination of this character i 6 permitted.
