:" - . HASTINGS, April 11. A motor car which was driven by Miss Russell, a daughter of' Sir William Russell, collided near Stoneycroft with a spring cart driven by Mr John Hassett. Both were thrown out, and by a strange coincidence each sustained a broken arm. Mr lliissctt was also severely cut on the head ":•' WELLINGTON, April 11. •GREY-MOUTH, April 11. • Ernest Gunn, a waterside worker, marrie'd, and about 45 years of age, while loading on the Taviuni, fell down the hoid. He was removed to the hospital. His condition is serious, but the full extent of his injuries is not yet known.

The kitfg-bolt bent, and the weight of the mill came down on his leg, inflicting a wound in his calf eight or ton inches long and tearing and crushing the muscles. The l>olt crushed the ankle, causing a compound fracture. On Tuesday:, when rc- ■ turning in his dray from Wyndham, Mr Henry O'Neill, of Mcnzies Ferry, gave a neighbour a "lift." At his own corner,' tiro neighbour got out, and in handing out a bag Mr O'Neill overbalanced through the horse moving and the wheel dropping into a rut. The consequence was that he fell between the shaft and the wheel, which passed over his head, breaking his jaw. In the absence of Dr Baird, Dn Rogers was summoned from Gore, and attended to Mr O'Neill's injuries, Mr Winning (chemist) in the meantime having rendered first aid. Mr O'Neill afterwards proceeded to the Invercargill hosrutal.
