AUCKLAND, September 6. Information has been received by. tho police from Uawenc that two Native children were drowned in tho Whirinaki ttiver yesterday. Both were about three years_ of nitc. Information was received to-day that a lad named Fred Carbon, 12 years of age, was killed at Big Bush. It appears that his father and another man were busnfellinfc and that a limb fell on the boy, striking his head and chest. lie died before ho i could be removed home.

Ho failed to return, and a diligont search was made- to discover his whereabouts, but no sign of him was seen until 4.45 p.m. yesterday, when bo was discovered by bin brother hanging from a rafter in the cellar below bis parents' residence. Constable Mnenrluev was at once summoned, and cut tho bodv" down. Judging by appearances, deceased" hnd evidently climbed tii> a steep clav bank, adjusting the ropo so Iliat when found his body was banging from a beam, with bis feet' clear of the ground. Deceased had been in ill-health for sonic tunc. and appears to have selected n very secluded and almost inaccessible p!»co in wbich to nut an end to his life. An inquest will be held at Mornington at 10 a.m. to-day.
