Gore's brickworks at Wingatui ceased work yesterday, iviicn a deputation representing tho mon waited on the proprietors and laid before them what is considered to bo a grievance. " Tlw employees, who arc at present in receipt of 8s a day, demand <ui incroaso to 9.) a day, alleging that such is the current rato of wages, and pointing to the facts that tho corporation employees nro in receipt of Unit amount, and also tho men on the Dimcdin- Mosgicl duplication works. The deputation lias given tho Messrs Gore until mid-day today to consider tho matter, the men in tho meantime, resuming work. Tim employees aro now working under tho terms of an award which expired about 18 months ago, and they aro not associated with any union. It is understood that if tho demands of flio men aro not grunted they will cease work.
