(Pes United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 12. For picking oysters at Waihoko on Boxing Day a man was fined £2 and 15s costs in tho Polico Court to-day. Tho defendant denied taking the oysters, and the magistrate remarked that such an offence was not worth while telling untruths about. ASHBURTON, January 12. Mr E. P. Leo, M.P. for Oamaru, successfully dofended himself on a charge of motoring over tho Ashburton trallic bridgo at an excessive speed.
