INVERCARGILL, February 8.

The last games of the olub matches were started to-day, tho chief interest oontring in tho Applleby v. Bluff match. In this, Appleby lead by a couple of points, and a win for Bluff would mako both teams equal, requiring a play-off for the premiership. Appleby started by making 206, to which A. Poole contributed a very fine 111, in making which he gavo only one chanco (at 12). He hit 24 boundaries The other doublo figure men are Mohaffey (18), Coderoft (18), Washer (11), and Word. Don. Hamilton bowled for tho first time this season, and got two wickets for 6 runs. Bluff have lost ono wicket for 50 runs (Hamilton 10, M'Kenzio (in) 27, and Don. Hamilton (in) 8).

In tho Invercargill v. Waikiwi match, Waiki'wi made 89 runs (M'Dougall 30, M'Curdy 18, and G. Eraser 16). Invercargill havo lost five wickets for 110 (Bannermair 65, James Gilbertson (in) 27, Doig 15). Bannorman (for I.C.C) got five wickets for 23, and Doig five for 36.

WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of tho Goneral Committee was held in the Waratah Tea Rooms on Monday evening. There wore delegates present representing six of tho clubs, and Mr G. A. Martin was voted to the chair. There was a large amount of correspondence read and received, one being a letter from the Southern Club desiring to know if they could bo allowed to enter for the competition. It was unanimously decided that tho action of the secretary, in replying to the effect that it was too late in the season to ■receive amy fresh entries, be endorsed.

A letter was received from tho Secretary of the St. Kiltla Club stating that they claimed their match with Grango by dethe Grange not being able to take the field at tho proper time.—Moved by Mr Ivl'Lennaji, and seconded by Mr Hotz, that St. Killda bo awarded the match by default, tho motion being carried unanimously. A letter was abo received from the Railway Club stating that tho Albion failed to appear on Wednesday last, and that they (tho Railway) claimed the match by default. —Tho same decision was come to in this caso as in tiro St. Kilda claim.

Mr E. Cameron reported on the reception which be received at the meeting of the Otago Cricket Association, stating that

the president ami members of that body were oxccodingly pleased to mairk t,ho progress Wednesday cricket had made- sin<c tlho commencement of the season. Mr Cameron stated that he was imprcss«l with the wiMingnes; displayed by tho O.C.A. to assist Hedncsday Association, the delegates

showing tlhoir sympathy by deciding to put the Wednesday Shield in up-to-date order. The shield, which is at present being exhibited in the "Toggery," at the Grand Hotel Oorne.r, is of a very neat dosign, and is worth llhe clubs striving to win.—lt was decided that the secretary write thanking the O.C.A. for their practical assistance given.
