A PECULIAR CASK. WELLINGTON, November 26. Tlio mail whoso body was found on the beach near Kaiwarra on Thursday was Andrew Edwards, a marrie<l man, aged 10, and ji resident of Khandallah. The evidenco at the inquest showed that on November 11 the deceased had been drinking. He went homo, and made himself eo objectionable that his wife locked herself in a, room. He tried unsuccessfully to break 'in, and then he tired a shot through tho wall. Hit; wife escaped tlvrovigli a -window, and spent the night ■with a neighbour. On returning next day she found the home considerably disturbed, and various articles stained with Wood. Dr Fyflo eaid the deceased had a gaping wound in. his throat, 6in long and very deep.- Death, however, was due to drowning. If deceased, after wounding himself, walked to where tho body was found (a mile and a-half) it was unexplainable. A verdict was returned that death was caused by drowning, but there was no evidence 'to show, how the deceased got into the water.
