At a meeting of the Southland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Mr David Roche was appointed chairman for tho en. suing year. A congregational meeting of tho Primitive Methodist Church, Dundas street, waa held on Friday evening last, in order to present to Miss Bennett (organist) a purso of gold to mark the appreciation of tho congregation for her services rendered during the past seven years. Mr C. W. Wilkinson made tho presentation, and s«W that Miss Bennett had originally come for' a six weeks' supply, but had stayed for seven years. During that timo sho liad endeared herself to all, and Dirtioioatcd willingly in all the church efforts. Tho opportunity was also taken to present Mr liobson, th,o choirmaster, who is completing, 12 years of service as conductor, with an enlarged group of tho choir, the presentation being made by tho pastor, supported by Mr W. King. Responses to tho presentations wero made by Mr Bennett (for his sister) and Mr Bobson.
