PHOSNIX CLUB'S NEW PAVILION. OFFICIAL OPENING, (From Oun Special Reporter.) OAMARU, November 18. At toe end of last season the Phoenix Bowling- Club, the 1 well-known Oamaru combination,, had the misfortune to have its largo wooden pavilion destroyed by lire. Since thon an energetic committee, represented by Messrs W. 11. Patterson (president), Mac Gibbon (treasurer),' H. P. Gibson (secretary), and J. M. Forrester (architect), has been at work, with tho result that the Phoenix Club has justified its name, and a large stont building with a handsome ornamental front has arieea ti'om tlie ashes, On Wednesday afternoon Mr W. H. Patterson, in the unavoidable absence of the president of the New Zealand Bowling Association (Mr J. M. Gallaway), presided at a most enjoyable ceremony held at tho green, and officially declared the now pavilion opon. A number of congratulatory speeches were made, and a large olub Hag presented by Mr J. D. Grant was run up to the top of the staff and unfurled. A great bazaar is at present being neld in aid of the Phoenix Club' house building fund. It was opened by the Mayor of tho town last night, and appears to bo doing extraordinary business. Mre J. M.
