HOSPITAL SATURDAY
T A meeting of the South Dunedin district Hillside workers was held in the library at the Hillside workshops yesterday afternoon, when there were present Messrs E. L. Haskins (in the chair), J. Loudon, W-. L. Logic, D. 11. Hastings, E. S. Wilson, .Mrs Loudon Miss Hooper (members of tho executive), and about 40 ladies. Apologies were ,«ceived from Messrs G. C. Israel, J. C. Jl'George, and C. K. Smith. The Chairman stated that tho meeting wa« called to make arrangements for the collection this year. Ho stated that l.c Iwlieved they luid done exceedingly well last year, and hoped they would' do still better this year.
Air Loudon said he thought ■ ille attendance augured well for tho collection this year, He personalty had a lot to do with the hospital, and could aesure them that '•ho patients greatly appreciated the improvements brought about through the efforts of the Hospital Saturday collection. While in Wellington ho had waited upon Sir J. G. Ward, and hoped thatHhe association would again receive the £200 subsidy received last year, if not more. On behalf of the trustees he tendered the ladies a cordial invitaton to inspect, the hospital themselves, and_ they would see the exact condition of things, the equipment of the hospital, and tho improvements brought about, through the instrumentality of the association. I-10. considered this a most nobk work and thought nobody could assist in a more worthy object. Mr Logie endorsed Mr Loudon's remarks and thanked the ladies for their assistance l.*st year, and hoped they would exceed' lb oil' previous records in the coming' collection."
Mr Hastings thanked the ladies for the manner in which they had-worked last year, and thanked Mr Haskins for tho use of the room.
A hearty vote of thanks was aecorded to Mrs Ansell for the hearty assistance rendered by her in the past.
