ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL

The St. Kilda Council met as usual on Tiwsady evening; present—Ors Gore, W. C. Cameron, J. D. Cameron, Allen, Ashton, Clark, ;J. ii. Maetlonald, Thompson, and Ewin;*. Cr Rtfbcrt.-c.ti sent an apology. In the unavoidable, ahsenco of the Mayor Cr Gore presided.

COHRESPO.N'DENCE. The Town 01-e.rk (Dunedin), in reply to tta council's letter of tho 20th ult., wrote bating that an oloclric street lamp similar to the ones in Forgusson and Eewen streets would be. circeted at the tram terminus in A ictoria read at 10 per cent, on cost price—Referred to' the Lighting; Committee. - J. >1. 11. MTv.iughlin wrote drawing tho council's attention to the state cf the road in front of his jwopcrty in Calder street.— Beferrcd to inspector, with power to act. J. Kice wrote cil'eriuj to pay £1 towards of drain in front of his 'house, Royal Crescent..—Work to be <j:nc. G. G. Adess wrote l-equosting the council to form the road and pipe the ditch iu front, or his residence.—»;fci-r:J to the Works Committee.' miI'ORTS. Tho Works, Tramways, Lighting, and Hater Cbmmittee ,-oporred that it was making inquiries with regard to the re-, hanging of the tiro bell, and had asted the Mayor and town clerk to ascertain from the oupta n cif tli3 Eire Braade what fi.ro plugs Tcquire attention. The report-continued: We liayc apix-ovcd of the inspector's action in objecting to the'manner in which tho newroads aro being formed in the Forbury Park subdivision. Wo beg to refer the matter of extension of water mains to t:he Finance Committee to report to the council with "gird to financing tho cost of this work. We recommend that a footpath he formed and ditoh, plpjd to Brown's sections in De Carle street on payment cf £1 per section towards cost of pipes.—Adopted.

The Finance, General, and Reserves Committees recommended that accounts amounting to £ lib' -15-: 6d bo passed fo, payment. —Adopted.

The financial statement attached to the report showed tho various accounts lo stand :.s follows:—District fund account, debit £1867 11' sd; drainage and sewerage account, credit £37 10s 2d; special loan account, credit £1361 8s 4d. GEXERAL. It was decided to grant a month's leave cf absence lo Mr James Henderson, assistant town clerk. Mr R. W. Price's tender for plumbing work ill the borough' was accepted. the rouxo. In accordance with notice, Cr MacdonaM moved motions rescinding previous resolutions, and then moved the following-- " That under the authority of section 29 of The Impounding- Act. 1908,'. the council, on and after Monday, November 22, 1909. hereby appoints sect.ons B.and 9, block XV! St. Kilda, to bo a public pound within the meaning of the act; public notice to be advertised. "That Ellen Hollander be appointed poundkeeper, she fo receive \u remuneration of her services half the poundage fees."

Cr ■]. D. Cameron seconded the motions, which we e carried by a majority of ono vote.
