' 111 reply to a request for the sanction ot the officer commanding the -2nd Aorthamptonshire Regiment (the old 58th)' Hie Mayor yesterday received a communi'' cation that the regiment'would .offer no objection to the removal ofits old colours' from then; present resting place at the Supreme Court (where they were placed in tt tl ? f 'f ie >: e S im «nt's operations in the Main War) to a position-"more' accessible tdthe view of the general public, lhismatter has been mooted for some time past, and a few months ba«k Mr Myers .wrote to. the Minister for Justice aslW Ins consent to the removal of these reet ment«l emblems to the Public Library but was informed that the request could liot oe granted without the consent of the commanding the regiment. It seems piobable in viow'of the favourable aofer lrom that gentleman, that the removal of these honourable, relics of war to the Free Library may shortly take place. .
