ADDRESS;BY DR VALINTINE. ' About. 80 .guests. aEsembled at the dominion Toa Rooms on Monday night in response to an invitation by the Trained Nurses Association to an "At home" to meet Dr Yalintine. The gathering, which was a representative, one, included a number of local medical practitioners and their wives, and also members of all branches of the nursing .fraternity. Miss Maclean, of Welllington, was also present. Dr Bamett occupied the oliair, in the unavoidable absence of Dr Will, the president of the association. 1 ..'.. .'',',/'■■'. • •■Dr.Valirrtirie gave a vory interesting addross m v coiinection with -his schemes for the enlargement of Hospital districts, describing a',practical; method .whereby the services of trairied nurses and midwrves could be, secured fof the back-blocks it a very small, cost to the Hospital, Boards. This.,was a matter;';of.-vital interest to all country settlors,- aud''should receive their support. It would, he was sure, meet with a ready response on • the part of many trained nurses, opening, as it did, a new and splendid'field of' work in their profession. Dr Yalintine'also gave an outline of his superannuation - scheme for hospital nurses, which'he described as a just and necessary, provision, which if brought into operation would be a boon to that section of the nursing profession. ■-, Dr, Valihtjno. was frequently applauded, his remarks-being ''iglily.appreciated.
