DUNEDIN DRAINAGE BOARD.
The-general meeting'of the Drainago Board, held last night, wm-attended by . Messrs W. Burnett (chairman, H. A. lie-. Cren, J. H. Hancock, J. Small; J. J. Marlow, and T. R. Christie. ' ..: COHHE3PONDENCB. The Paymaster-general notified that £500 hod been remitted as contribution for.services in connection with Government 1>«m1in'gs. Duncdin.-Recoived, and on the motion, of Mr Christie it was .decided to forwaird a'vote of thanks to the Hon. J. A Millar for' Ms eerviecs in connection 'with securing the vote.-TKo Chairman pointed out that such a recognition would encourage their members to. do their best to forward tlie claims of tho board. The Maori Hill Borough Council wrote calling attention to the nuisances caused by discharge of sewerage in the Wcodhsuigh Gardens, and the deposit of offensive drainage on W. Forbes's, land in Cannington.— The complain to were referred to .the WorksCoinmittee to inspect ai>d report. Mr Hancock drew attention to the want of drainage connection with the new school-rooms'-'erected at the Maoamdrew Road School, considered at last meeting. Ho eaicl that the engineer had found that tho connections could be made, and the matter was referred to the Works Committee, with newer to act, they to give tho relief desired. The, District Health Officer wrote calling attention to' defective drains in Georgo, Rattray, and Albany streets-Eeferred to tho Works Committee. RBI'OIITS. The Finance Committee's report was adopted* . The Works Committee s report was adopted in part, but the clause rccommendint; the expenditure of £450 on a dwelling at the pumping station, Musselburgh, for the engineer was held over for consideration by a fuller meeting.
